SoundHound solves the classic problem of song identification. With this app, you can identify any song that is playing in a public setting, commercial, or just that song that has been stuck in your head for the past week. What gives SoundHound the edge over Shazam, at least for me, is that you can identify the song in as little as four seconds, you don’t need to wait for the whole tagging process to complete.

Another really cool feature of SoundHound is that you can sing or hum into your phone and SoundHound will tag the song that you are singing or humming (as long as you have basic rhythm and tone skills). There is also a LiveLyrics feature where the slider will automatically scroll to whatever point you are at in the song and live scroll as the song continues, feeding you the lyrics as they occur.

My only issue with SoundHound as of late is that the app is getting far too convoluted and the interface is really busy, a far cry from the original interface of SoundHound. This is impeding on the loading time of the app, which can sometimes make it hard if you are trying to catch the last bit of that song before it is over on the radio. But overall, SoundHound is still a great app, and I would place it over Shazam any day, download it for free and give it a try.
